Gyms are reopening, why is the Community Center still closed?

We are receiving this question a lot lately so I thought I would put a little reminder that the temporary closure of the center was a very difficult decision made by the JPA Board of Directors due to the financial situation that the Center is in. Like many businesses that were hit hard due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Community Center is facing many obstacles to reopen including an updated business model to be more self-sustaining, the additional supplies and maintenance standards and distancing standards for a business of our size and type, and the fact that the center has had to make drastic cuts and are paying our bare minimum bills to be able to have time to develop, review, and implement, this new plan in order for the Community Center to reopen.

We encourage our members and community members to read through the staff reports and board packets for full details and information on the status. The public is encouraged to participate in our board meetings virtually at this time. Our next meeting is Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 pm. Click here for the packet and zoom meeting info.

We know that it is frustrating to not be able to use the Center at this time and our staff misses you being here as well. The JPA Board of Directors, the two cities, and our staff are working very hard to bring the center back to the community with some great changes to take us into 2021 and beyond. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this very difficult period.
